Dear Friend,
I have met thousands of you these past months while walking our neighborhoods and knocking on doors. Your kindness in welcoming me into your homes and interest in our campaign is deeply appreciated.
A consistent theme I have heard is that the people of our District are appreciative of the incumbent’s past eight years on the City Council, but they want a change. They want to stop the battle of political personalities and get on with putting our people and what is important to our District first.
That is why I want to serve our District as City Councilor. As a teacher, small businessman, Cibola High School athletic coach, local pastor, husband, and dad, I want to improve our image and impact on the City Council.
Our West Side District is about 50% larger than each of the other eight City Council Districts in Albuquerque, yet we suffer from the drain of the constant fight between the incumbent and the rest of the City Council and executive branch.
There is no good or healthy reason for this attitude, and I will elevate the tone immediately and ensure that the West Side gets its fair share of City services and resources. We need to collaborate with others, and work with and not against everyone as though they were personal enemies.
Serving the public as our City Councilor has to be just that—public service, and that is what my heart is committed to.
So, thanks for visiting this site. Please take a stroll. Check out my stand on several issues, visit the press statements we have issued, and stop by the photo gallery to view some of the sites and people I have met in this pivotal campaign for change to improve our representation on Albuquerque’s City Council.
Thank you for your consideration and concern for our City,
Dan Lewis
